Joby Aviation remotely operated its supervised autonomous J208 aircraft in Utah on September 30, 2026, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announced. The aircraft was equipped with the company's Superpilot autonomous flight technology.
The flight was part of Joby's Electric Skies tour, a coast-to-coast journey covering a dozen cities and 5,541 nautical miles. Utah was the second-to-last stop on the route.
UDOT said the demonstration is generating real-world flight data that will help inform safety standards, infrastructure decisions, and operating practices for advanced air mobility. Utah leads the uFLY coalition, a multi-state effort to evaluate autonomous flight.
