An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Chennai was diverted to Hyderabad on 11 October after a passenger's power bank caught fire on board.

The aircraft, operating as IndiGo flight 6E 6115, landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. Cabin crew used a fire extinguisher to bring the fire under control.

The flight was carrying more than 180 passengers. An alternate aircraft was arranged to continue the journey to Chennai, and no injuries were reported.

Power banks contain lithium-ion batteries and are only permitted in carry-on baggage. They must not be placed in checked luggage or used to charge devices during flight.
