The European Union and India are preparing to begin negotiations on a comprehensive air transport agreement (CATA), Aviation Week reported.

EU commissioner for sustainable transport and tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas is planning to visit India in early October to start the negotiations, according to the publication.

The move follows the January 2026 EU-India Summit, after which the European Council announced plans to begin regular talks on an EU-India comprehensive air transport agreement.
