Harry Reid International Airport broke ground Tuesday on a new Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) station funded by $23.1 million in federal money. Members of Nevada's congressional delegation joined airport officials for the groundbreaking.
The new facility replaces Station 13, located on the airport airfield. It is one of the oldest stations in the Clark County Fire Department after serving the airport for more than 40 years.
The 28,000-square-foot facility is scheduled for completion in early 2028. It will include nine apparatus bays, two more than the current station, along with enhanced training space, individual dorm rooms and modern paging and alert technology.
Officials said the new station will support growing air travel demand while maintaining response capability, operational readiness and safety for passengers, employees and operations.
