Germany has taken delivery of its first F-35 fighter jet, according to NATO Allied Air Command.

The arrival of the first aircraft marks a milestone in the Luftwaffe's introduction of the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II, which Germany selected to replace its aging Tornado fleet.

The F-35 is a fifth-generation multirole stealth fighter that is being integrated into air forces across Europe. Germany is among several NATO allies fielding the aircraft.
