Garmin has announced that more than 2,500 aircraft are now equipped with its Autoland system, a milestone reached just over six years after the technology received its first certification in 2020.

Autoland is an emergency system designed to automatically take control and land the aircraft if the pilot becomes unable to fly. The company said the system is now available on more than 15 aircraft models, spanning piston-powered aircraft and twin-engine jets.

Garmin described the milestone as reflecting growing adoption of a technology intended to give pilots and passengers added confidence during emergencies, and said Autoland continues to demonstrate certified capability across a growing range of aircraft.
